Jay Davis, Esq.

Mr. Davis has been specializing in the field of matrimonial and family law for over 38 years. He is a graduate of the State University of New York of Albany and the Syracuse University Law School.

Mr. Davis is a recognized specialist in matrimonial law, serving as a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association Matrimonial/Family Law Committee, the Nassau County Bar Association Custody and Family Law Subcommittee, the New York State Bar Association Matrimonial/Family Law Committee and the American Bar Association Matrimonial/Family Law Committee. He is a member of the prestigious Inns of Court, a national organization recognizing leadership and expertise in the field of matrimonial and family law.

As an active participant in the Nassau County Bar Association Pro-Bono Program, and Mr. Davis was a recipient of awards as Pro-Bono Attorney of the Year and Pro-Bono Attorney of the Month.

Mr. Davis serves as an Arbitrator on the Nassau County Bar Association’s Fee Dispute Committee and works within a group of select matrimonial attorneys in Nassau County in a program dealing with pro-bono litigants founded by Nassau County Administrative Judge Anthony J. Marano.

Mr. Davis has lectured in the field of custody and visitation on many occasions and his writings have been published in various journals and seminar materials. He has handled hundreds of divorces during his career, including cases dealing with child custody, relocation, grounds for divorce and Equitable Distribution. He has argued cases before the New York State Appellate Division and the New York State Court of Appeals, and, in fact, was the attorney of record on a landmark case involving the New York State Equitable Distribution law at the time of its creation in 1980. Further, Mr. Davis has lectured at Nassau Community College and was named as one of the top lawyers in the field of Family Law on Long Island by Pulse Magazine in its September 2010 and March 2012 editions.

Also to Mr. Davis’ credit, he has served as an Arbitrator/Panelist for a program established by the Nassau County Bar Association, known as Early Neutral Evaluation and has an “AV” rating, which is the highest rating provided by Martindale Hubbell, the nationally known organization providing ratings for attorneys throughout the country.
